Android Developer with BLE skills

Do you think messing with living room lights from an app is a bit done already? How about a 8000 lumen professional work light in a BLE mesh, mounted on a giant excavator?

We are looking for an app developer with experience working with Bluetooth Low Energy on Android.

You would be joining a highly talented team of developers, designers and strategists in our new fresh office in downtown Gothenburg. Right away, you would be taking charge of the Bluetooth Mesh communication stack for an Android app. Together with one of our clients we are designing and developing a new product line where our app will be used to install, configure and operate a mesh of professional LED work lights on various construction equipment like forest machines, excavators and loaders.

We have been fighting with Nordic's lib and know the horrors it holds. To make our lives easier, we started putting together a reactive BLE library to help maintain our sanity. You would be taking charge of this open source lib and taking it further: https://github.com/technocreatives/beckon-android

Besides this, we are also developing and operating an IoT platform. This complete stack of hardware, firmware, cloud and apps aim to accelerate development of a bunch of client projects. BLE is an integral part of the platform and will enable us to do short range communication and allow us to provide features like digital keys. After nailing the above described project, you would have an opportunity to be part of forming and influencing this platform and related projects.

The role can optionally be temporarily remote due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, with the goal of you joining us in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Role requirements

• Professional experience with Android app development.
• Experience working with the Android Bluetooth Low Energy network stack.
• Experience with Nordic Semiconductors Android BLE lib.
• Competence debugging networking issues using Wireshark.
• Strong ability to implement coherent and reusable components.
• Familiar with ARM based microcontrollers (particularly the nRF52) and the embedded firmware on the other side of the BLE communication.
• Comfortable with modern reactive patterns.

Hiring Timeline

We are accepting applicants for this role until June 2nd.

Depending on your qualifications, you might be asked to do a small assignment, and participate in two or three interviews.
