Semantic Web Developer

Roles & Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of terminologies (entities, attributes and their relationship) for given business processes and related data sets. You work independently with customer’s product owners, data scientists, DevOps engineers, Engineering managers and other internal/external stakeholders and design Ontology Model to represent various entities, attributes and their relationships. You use your knowledge and experience to ensure that terminologies and ontologies are compatible with relevant Information standards. You are responsible for developing technical documentation and reports about terminologies and ontologies, including descriptions and associated models and processes.

Required Skills (Technical Competency):

• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in IT/ software development with good understanding of working in Agile / DevOps environment
• 2+ years of experience in taxonomy or ontology development, understanding of semantic standards and experience using and or developing semantic models
• Good understanding of knowledge modelling and knowledge graphs and associated software tools
• Good knowledge and hands-on with semantic technologies and standards of OWL, RDF, SKOS, SPARQL
• Knowledge in search engine technology, e.g. Solr/Lucene, Elastic Search, Jena or Virtuoso is a plus
• Knowledge of relational database management systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL), experience with NoSQL databases is a plus
• Fluency in Java (search engine backend) is a plus
• Fluency in Python, CSS and JavaScript (web frontend technologies) is a plus
• Knowledge of package management and code versioning (Git)
• Basic proficiency with the Linux and Unix command line
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, software engineering or a related discipline
• Ability to work Independent and coordinate with stakeholders
• Good command of written and spoken English. Good communications skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences
• Ability to work in cross-functional and cross-site projects, ideally with an understanding of cultural differences in international projects
