We deliver some of the world’s top TV brands directly to consumers, and partner with creators and distributors to enable them through every aspect of setting up their own OTT service. We are a diverse group of around 50 people sitting in Stockholm. Everyone is equal and all ideas and opinions count. Flexibility in working and mind are important to be a part of a team in which change is, and will, happen constantly. We speak English and have a proper Swedish fika.

What we do: We are building a globally distributed video streaming platform and all that it entails as far as web apps, infrastructure, architecture, media services, operations, latency, reliability, uptime and so on. We need to build software that will handle large load while still keeping low response times and correctness. We want our platform to be up for the challenges of the real world and we want you to join us in making it happen. Our platform and services are in a state of continuous development and improvement and we wish to keep things that way.

Where: Stockholm, Sweden (You will need to have Swedish Work Permit / EU Citizenship)


Role Overview:

  • Manage one engineering team (5-8 people)
  • Leadership responsibility within the assigned area, including team deliverables, productivity, quality and efficiency.
  • Providing mentorship and regular feedback on performance to the team members.
  • Proactively communicates about plans, milestones, progress and potential issues too and with stakeholders.
  • Proactively addresses bottlenecks and obstacles encountered by the team in order to manage expectations regarding delivery and timelines.
  • Can identify and apply best practices for the team’s technical platform and direction.
  • Understands how the team’s products and components fit into current and future customer value, workflows and offerings, from a technical and business perspective.
  • Works effectively across documentation, testing, development and releasing software continuously.
  • Continue being hands-on with programming and testing to develop and improve our distributed video streaming platform as part of the team.

Who we think you are (this is a wish list):

Experience & Personality:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field.
  • Strong background in software engineering, with at least 5 years’ experience
  • Must have experience of successfully managing teams of 4+ employees in software product development, with at least 3 years’ experience
  • Is a leader and change ambassador, you are able, enthusiastic and take the initiative
  • Interest in people management and people development
  • Proactively working on developing the team and yourself in all aspects (know-how, efficiency, team culture, foster innovative culture, communication, risk mitigation, single point of failure etc..)
  • You have a holistic view on problems/solutions and understand the importance of deploying software with high quality and confidence (well known risks) to reduce and limit the risk for unsatisfactory customer user experience

Engineering:

  • Experience and strong interest in building a DevOps Culture (working towards Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, low-risk releases, continuous feedback loops and building a learning culture to name a few areas)
  • Strong in distributed systems and service oriented architecture for scalable web services
  • Strong background with Cloud Native Software landscape & Amazon Web Services
  • Strong background in Scala (functional programming) or Python
  • Don't mind using Javascript/CSS/HTML to deliver vertical sliced features
  • Experience in SaaS and video streaming software development
  • Know how to use analytics, how to read graphs, logs etc (so from tooling it can be Postman/Insomnia or similar, Kibana, Datadog/Grafana or similar, SQL)
