We work on integrating and building intelligent experiences across Microsoft 365, with ownership of how users experience people, building a semantic information graph across content like files, and providing organization wide searches. Our team works together with backed services teams and front end experiences teams to deliver features powered by a semantic understanding of people and relationships between people.

Responsibilities:

You will work in a team of developers, data scientists and architects responsible for every stage of the software development lifecycle – from early design to implementation, roll-out, monitoring and scaling. Microsoft services run with low latency and industry leading availability and reliability. You own this, together with the rest of the team – ensuring that our services meet high customer expectations. Your code will be used in components that power experiences for hundreds of millions of daily users and you’ll get ample opportunity to be challenged across many dimensions of software engineering and machine learning.

We expect you to participate in and contribute to the larger machine learning community inside of MDCN and Microsoft. The team will look to you for help in understanding what is going on in the machine learning area and you will be expected to have a point of view on which direction to take our products. Our services have a large set of implicit and explicit signals from real users that can be leveraged in both offline and online experimentation, while respecting user privacy and compliance, for learning and iterating to improve our products, and you will play an important role creating ML models from this data.

Must-have qualifications:

  • Master's or bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, mathematics or related technical disciplines.
  • Proven track record of defining, delivering, and optimizing explorative data science and machine learning projects that address real-world problems.
  • Experience with ML tools to build models and analyze data (e.g. Python, R, scikit-learn, TF, PyTorch, ML.NET).
  • Knowledge of distributed big-data computing systems (e.g. Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Azure ML).
  • Software engineering experience covering software engineering best practices (code quality, repo hygiene, code reviews, unit testing, design documentation, continuous integration, deployment).
  • Strong verbal skills as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferable qualifications:

  • Software and data architecture experience.
  • Experience in experimentation frameworks and understanding how to measure end user impacting metrics.
  • Deep Learning experience is a plus.
  • Background in statistics is an advantage.
  • Thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments where passion for customer engagement and great experience are at the forefront of all design & development.
