Our Exciting Opportunity

We are looking for a smart, knowledgeable, and creative researcher to strengthen our efforts on building future AI/ML automated 5G/6G networks.

In our Network Management and Automation team, we develop and drive outstanding research on management, orchestration, and AI/ML network automation for 5G and future 6G networks, realizing a zero-touch network vision. Come and join Ericsson Research!

A researcher working with us will develop end-to-end control and automation solutions spanning radio and packet core network domains. In this area you will innovate and become an inventor, protecting your ideas in patents and contributing to relevant standardization fora. Furthermore, a researcher drives feasibility and performance studies, implementing and demonstrating solutions. Working on real network data in close collaboration with our business units, your innovations will improve service quality and performance for people and things using our networks every day.

The position is based in Stockholm, Sweden, reporting to the respective Research Leader.

You will

  • Work in an international team of world-class researchers with different backgrounds and experiences
  • Develop new concepts and solutions, making use of software tools for validation, prototyping and performance evaluations
  • Understand and contribute to relevant standards e.g. O-RAN, ONAP, ETSI ZSM, 3GPP
  • Gain deep expertise on telecom networks, network automation and data driven operations
  • Create new technical solutions and protect them with Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)

To be successful in the role you must have

  • MSc. or PhD degree in a technical field or equivalent
  • Excellent software programming skills (e.g. Python), understanding of orchestration systems (e.g. Kubernetes), a true interest of realizing ideas using cloud native implementations and web technologies
  • Experience on AI/ML technologies and/or network automation topics, such as: reinforcement learning, transfer and federated learning, closed loop automation, policy driven orchestration, etc.
  • Understanding of communication systems, network architecture, SDN/NFV, orchestration, network control and management. Knowledge in Network Automation is a plus.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
