About the position
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with an industrial background and a strong drive for business development, that want to be part of realizing impactful commercial projects and research.

You will be part of a team conducting applied research in the areas of communication networking, video quality measurements, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), cybersecurity, privacy preserving methods and Internet of Things (IoT) to name a few.

In this position you will be working closely with our senior research and business developers and in a vast scope of applied research level projects where your highly developed interpersonal skills and well documented data science skills and methods will apply and glue together the latest research findings to respond to a variety of challenges in industry, SMEs, and public sector. You will also be part of a growing departmental team collaborating to meet business needs.

You should have excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. It is also important that you have the ability to understand results from our research projects, can pair them with real client needs and transform them into high quality software, tailored to industry's needs and business objectives – to make a real difference.

Place of employment: Kista, Stockholm.

As a Senior Software Engineer with us at RISE, you will be responsible for:  

- Organize and interact with possible customers – identifying challenges and needs – to create and lead targeted business development
- Collaborate with your colleagues to define research results that can be tailored to cover urgent needs from industry and public sector - act as a link between customers, business development, and our research areas
- Drive and execute projects based on client needs and our research expertise, targeting highly applied applications
- Developing high-quality design and architectures
- Developing tools and applications by producing clean, efficient code
- Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting
- Perform validation and verification testing

Your profile
As a senior software engineer with us, we believe that you have an analytical mind with problem-solving attitude, an excellent interpersonal skill and a proven business development track record. You are curious, goal-oriented, flexible, and highly communicative. Further we think that you have proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer with industrial background, an extensive experience in software development, scripting, in project management and that you have excellent programming skills (e.g., C, C++, Java, and Python). You are skilled in presenting and documenting your work, as well as work from your research colleagues both in English and Swedish, i.e., to describe the problem, the solution, and the approach in an understandable manner.

You have at least a Master's Degree in computer science or a related degree. In addition, it’s a merit if you have experience in any of the following:

- Have a background and experience in testing complex highly configurable, variant-rich software systems in the industrial production domains
- Have experience or deep interest in distributed systems (Cloud/Fog/Edge), communication networking, Industrial digitalization, cybersecurity/privacy, machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms, and/or how humans engage and experience a highly digitalized environment
- Be able to read and understand state of the art research
