Cloud Operations Engineer

Calabrio is looking for a new member of the Cloud Operations team who will focus on system administrative efforts in support of operational excellence. You will perform system automation tasks, system planning, system support, system monitoring, platform monitoring, diagnostics and troubleshooting. In addition you will contribute to the design and implementation of operational procedures and policies.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Maintain system software to latest versions and patch release levels
• Proactively monitor environment utilizing best practices
• Learn other technologies as necessary to develop/support other application platforms.
• Maintain and upgrade customer databases and underlying technologies
• Use and maintain deployment pipelines with orchestrators such as Azure DevOps or Jenkins
• Maintain and update Infrastructure as Code configurations with Terraform
• Perform application release deployments and provide continuous process improvement for application releases
• Learn from continuous improvement. Share knowledge and mentor other team members.
• 24/7 On-Call support (paid) on a rotational basis, every 5th to 8th week, depending on current team and schedule dynamics.

• Demonstrated experience with some or many Amazon Web Services (AWS) such as:
• Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)
• Simple Storage Service (S3)
• Relational Database Service (RDS)
• Elastic Container Service (ECS)
• Autoscaling Groups and Spot Instances
• Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)
• AWS networking fundamentals (VPCs and peering, NAT Gateways, public and private addressing)
• Systems Manager (SSM)
• Kinesis and Firehose
• Elasticsearch
• CloudFormation
• Experience in migrating from on-premises technologies to cloud-native technologies
• Extensive Linux and Windows administration experience
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools and processes such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates
• Exposure to fundamental Java (Apache Tomcat) and .Net Core code and applications
• Scripting experience with a common language such as PowerShell or Python
• Operational experience supporting MS SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science or related fields
• Must have 3+ years related work experience in most Core Competencies
• Experience in working with FedRAMP/SOC2/ISO27001/CloudSecOps is a plus
• Experience with teaming in an Agile or DevOps culture
• Must be detailed and process oriented.
• Ability to learn software and hardware tools where necessary
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while keeping work-in-progress to a minimum
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to learn new software and hardware tools
• Ability to perform systems analysis and design and provide written specifications
