System Engineer, Army C4I

Your role

As a System Engineer you may work with a wide range of tasks and responsibilities such as system verification, integration and troubleshooting, requirement handling, software implementation as well as complex systems design.

You will be part of the LandC2 department, a relatively small organization of about 40 persons. We are organized in a program structure which allows us to work in our different projects with coordination, flexibility and continuity.

The majority of our business focus on our home market, the Swedish Army but we also manage export customers outside of Sweden. As System Engineer you will be involved in different projects and solutions while keeping an overall sense of the system design to align solutions and care for long-term architectural solutions.

The main activities are situated in Järfälla, Sweden where our development takes place. The role System Engineer implies close cooperation with the customer and end user, collaboration with partners and colleagues all over Sweden and in some cases abroad.

Your profile

We are looking for an experienced systems developer with background preferably in defense command & control or similar system architectures.

You enjoy working over a wide technical spectra, e.g. writing System Requirements on a top level, work with re-design of a subsystem, take responsibility for parts of the system and drive the work needed to fulfill the contract. You strive to understand the customer needs and the benefit of having a close customer collaboration. Problem solving and technical challenges motivates you and you have a strong ability to plan and execute your work. You are able to prioritize your own work and the work of others. You do not hesitate to ask for help when needed. A key success factor will be your ability to work in team, understand the importance of a clear, good and traceable system documentation in order to create commitment and energy within the project.

Further, the successful candidate has a broad profile with at least the following attributes:

* Master's degree or equivalent experience (a military degree is also valued).
* Experience of handling large and complex technical requirements on a system level including both Software and Hardware
* Specific/deep knowledge in one or several technology domains like IT-security, Windows virtualization, NW management, Software development craftsmanship (languages C++, C#, Ada, Java, Python)
* Always striving for improvements, innovative solutions and efficient methods
* Good knowledge of Swedish and English in writing and speaking
* Business-minded both internally and in customer contacts
* Experience of command and control systems from both a technical and operational perspective is a clear advantage

You will be a part of Business Unit Combat Systems and Product Unit Air and Land. We are experts on C4I (Command, Control, Communication, and Computer Information System), which is one of Saab Core Areas. In the Land Department we are experts in digitizing the Ground based battlefield. Our C4I solutions applies advanced IT security and integration technologies in combination with Military-off-the-shelf (MOTS) hardware and software packages. Our end users are represented on all command levels (from Head to HQ) and in all Combat Services (e.g. Mechanized, Artillery and CBRN forces). Combat Systems is a part of Surveillance.
