Android Software Developer

Volvo Cars recently announced that the next generation infotainment system will be based on Android Automotive, with close collaboration with Google. We are now looking for an Android developer to strengthen our organization.
Developers at the Infotainment department work in one of approx. 20 agile teams divided in areas of e.g.; Android Platform, Connectivity, User interaction, Security, Android Automotive app development, and other car functions etc.

As an Android Software Developer, you will work in a team to develop and enhance the OTA (over-the-air) functionality. The function will give the user a possibility to update the software in the car, throughout the lifetime of the car, and by that provide new or updated functions compared to when the car was bought. The OTA team develops the HMI for customer interaction (i.e. the download center) together with the discovery and download of new SW packages from the backend to the car. 

In this position, you will build and maintain a personal network with software developers within different areas of the infotainment system and with other teams working with the OTA chain. As a part of our team, you get access to long-term development opportunities in a dynamic and continuously growing field. We are organized according to SAFe framework with 12 weeks program increment and 2 weeks sprints. 

Who you are

You are self-driven and unafraid of seeking new ways to solve problems. You have good communication skills and we assume that you communicate fluently in English (speech and writing).

You are a technical-minded team player who appreciate to work with different cultures. You value being part of a high performing team where we all contribute to the team development by using feedback and self-development as important parameters.

Besides being customer focused, you have a strong analytical capability, you are structured and organized in your daily work. You bring experience from software development, have a holistic view and great systems thinking.

Main responsibilities:

Software development in the full vertical Android stack for the infotainment system. Create CI test cases related to the implemented functionality.
Development using Java, C++, Python, Bash and the Android tool set. End-to-end responsibility including design, architecture, documentation, implementation and automated test cases. Debug, test and trace during integration

Required qualifications / skills: 

•    B.Sc or M.Sc in Software Engineering or similar relevant experience
•    At least 2 years of software development (C++, C, Python, Java etc)
•    Experience from Android development.
•    Agile software development practices
•    Good English skill (written and spoken)
•    Driver’s license (B-level)
