DICE (EA Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment), the award-winning developer based in Stockholm, Sweden, is best known for creating the successful Battlefield franchise with the widely acclaimed Battlefield 4 being the latest installment. DICE is also home of the Frostbite Engine, Star Wars: Battlefront, as well as being the creators of Mirror’s Edge.

Role Overview

We – DICE Operations – are looking for a talented and driven person that is passionate about developing software systems for games with millions of users. Your focus will be large-scale computation and machine learning, e.g. matchmaking and recommendation systems. You will be working in a small team using modern technologies, languages and frameworks. We use mainly Scala and Python and are heavily inspired by the technologies built by companies like Netflix and Twitter. Examples of technology we use are Cassandra, Spark, Kafka and Mesos. We work with Github and deploy to Amazon Web Services. We encourage developers to take ownership from initial design to live deployment.

What skills does DICE look for?

Technical Qualifications

• Understanding of large-scale distributed computation, e.g. for machine learning and analytics
• Previous experience of large distributed, scalable, robust, high-performing systems
• Knowledge of Scala/Java/Python
• Knowledge of Git, or similar distributed source management system
• Experience with cloud deployment, especially AWS
• Excellent understanding of Linux
• Enough math to understand various machine learning methods
• Good communication and documentation skills

Good to have

• Experience with web front-end technology, e.g. JavaScript, HTML and CSS
• MSc in Computer Science or similar discipline
• Contributions to Open Source projects is a plus
