We are seeking a Lead UX Designer for Physical Spaces to join the Car UX team within the UX Organization at our Headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden) (International applications are welcome). 

In this new role, you will focus on defining our customers' interaction with physical interfaces in and around the car.

Why now?
Volvo Cars is on an ambitious journey to redefine what it means to own a vehicle during a time of rapid change in the transport industry. Volvo Cars is looking to redefine all aspects of the car ecosystem including mobility solutions, autonomous driving, vehicle electrification, sustainability, and digital purchases and engagement. User Experience as a discipline is a key part of Volvo Cars' strategy and the UX organization gathers insights about our users, and redefines and elevates their experience of Volvo's products and services.

Your Mission
As a Lead UX Designer on the Car UX team, you will work on defining features, products, and systems within the digital systems and physical interaction of the car and all of the complex touchpoints that this implies. Working with designers as well as diverse stakeholders in product and engineering, you will advocate both for the customer and for exceptional design. You will contribute with a high level of craft as well as insights from research in order to create a magical customer experience.

You will be involved both in project planning and guiding other designers as well as working hands-on to deliver design artifacts, such as user flows, wireframes, and prototypes that balance design aesthetics with intuitive functionality. You will develop a deep understanding of our customer needs and pain-points, serving as an expert for your product team. You will also contribute ideas for new and enhanced features.

You and Your Skills
We believe that you are a versatile UX designer with a people-focused design mentality and ten or more years' of experience who knows what it takes to create elegant, user-oriented experiences and deliver magical experiences to the customer. As a strong collaborator, you can work not only with design partners, but many other stakeholders, from marketing to engineering. You are constantly looking to hone your design instinct through user feedback, whether that’s hands-on user interviews, ethnography, or a quantitative A/B test.

* We believe we are looking for someone who has: 
* Strong UX fundamentals and user-centered design practices.
* A full range of skills—product design, interaction design, and visual design.
* Experience working hands-on with user research, both qualitative and quantitative.
* A portfolio (or work samples) of relevant past projects.

It would be an advantage if you have experience with industrial design and/or design of physical spaces and experience with consumer-focused tech companies.
