At Jeppesen we create amazing software that helps millions of passengers around the world to safely and efficiently reach their destination.

One of our guiding tenets is striving to continuously improve and we are on a journey to transform to an even more agile, even leaner and even more dynamic organization. You will work in a one-of-a-kind software development organization with fascinating solutions that make a real difference to people around the world, every second of the day.

Every commercial airline flight begins with a flight plan. The flight plan calculations have to comply with safety and regulatory requirements, while providing airlines with an opportunity for cost optimization by enabling them to determine the optimal route, altitudes, speeds, and amount of fuel to load on an airplane. Optimization can be challenging because it involves a large number of independent factors, like weather, airspace restrictions, physics of flight, overfly charges, RAIM, to name just a few. Modules responsible for various factors are seamlessly integrated in an uncompromising system design in our flight planning optimization engine.

You will work in our flight planning optimization team being responsible for the overall system design and maintenance. The tasks will be primarily related to hands-on maintenance of consistent system design, including being a gatekeeper responsible for source code management (GIT), staying on top of complex system architecture, managing data feeds and various support systems. With your knowledge and expertise, you will contribute to the work of the multinational multidisciplinary team striving for excellence in delivering customer value.

You should be an expert in multiple programming languages as well as in operating systems (process management, memory management, communication), have a deep understanding of UNIX, be familiar with program design patterns, and have a strong grasp of several programming paradigms (object oriented, functional, relational). You should be prepared to make a deep dive into areas like aviation regulations, mathematical optimization, and physics of flight. The nature of the project requires frequent communication with colleagues with various technical backgrounds. You are expected to combine technical excellence with excellent communication skills.

Requirements:
-MSc in Computer Science + minimum 5 years of experience in complex system development and maintenance
-Expert in multiple programming languages (C++, Lua, SQL, Python, Javascript, HTML, CSS)
Deep understanding of operating systems (UNIX)
-Experience in source code management
-Excellent communication skills

Meriting Experience:
-Developing aviation applications
-Broad knowledge of mathematics and physics
-Experience with optimization algorithms
-Experience with relational databases
-Experience with system architecture
-Flying experience

We look forward to leveraging your knowledge and experience to improve our products even more.
