At Mälardalen University people meet who want to develop themselves and the future. We have 19 900 students reading courses and study programmes in Business and Economics, Health, Engineering and Education at our campuses in Eskilstuna and Västerås, or by distance. We conduct research within all fields of education and have internationally prominent research in Future Energy and Embedded Systems. Our close collaboration with the private and public sectors enable us at MDH to contribute towards the better health of people and towards a more sustainable planet. To strengthen Sweden as an education and research country, the Government is to upgrade Mälardalen University College to Mälardalen University from 1 January 2022.
At the School of Business, Society and Engineering our students are studying to be for example Bachelors or Masters of Engineering, political scientists and business administrators. MDH is looking for a post-doc in Intelligent Electro-fuel Production. The position involves working within the research specialization Future Energy Center (FEC). The work is part of the research activities conducted in modelling and simulation, model-predictive control and robust optimization for Power-to-Gas technologies under the IFAISTOS project at FEC. The focus of MDH is on modeling and smart control of H2 production by water electrolysis and H2 conversion with an external CO or CO2 source to CH4 via methanation. The work includes both simulation and experimental parts, so good skills in one or both areas are of very strong merit, since pilot tests and larger-scale demonstrations are planned. More information about the IFAISTOS project you can find through the following link: IFAISTOS
The successful candidate is therefore expected to have a good engineering background with profound skills in heating and turbine technology and related modelling tools and be able to interact effectively with partner research institutes, industry, colleagues and other stakeholders. The post-doc/researcher is expected to take initiatives, develop own ideas and work independently, as well as take responsibility for the work.
The position is a temporary employment of 2 years.
The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or in relevant areas.
The applicant must have completed the degree no more than three years before the end of the application period as well as shown research and pedagogical skills within the subject area.
