Senior Android Developer

Tibber is the first fully digital energy company in the world. We choose not to make money on our customer's consumption – we much rather help them lower it. Which is pretty "out there" being an energy company – it shouldn't. We’re the only energy company with the mission to reduce residential energy consumption in Europe by 20%. We’re constantly challenging the dinosaurs in the market by using new technology and fresh ideas.

Starting out with two founders in 2016, and now we are 160, and with the number growing each week, we’re still just getting started. Our growth rate has been truly amazing and we are now helping over 200.000 customers to reduce their energy consumption. We are now looking for a skilled Android Developer to join one of our brilliant squads!

What the role entails

A lot of pride and tons of work have been put into the development of our apps. We always strive for a top-notch app which means many iterations and a drive to always push forward. We would rather drop features than risk a user experience with high friction, inconsistent flows, or poorly designed visuals. This has proven to be a successful mindset as our apps have great ratings: 4,9 for Android (and 4,9 for iOS as well!). We're using leading technologies such as RxJava, Dagger/Hilt, and Retrofit, though we’re currently in a process of moving towards coroutines.

The role also includes backend development to an extent, developing and maintaining our backend-for-frontend that’s written in Node.

To sum it up, we’re looking for an app developer with a backend twist, or a backend developer that likes making apps. Someone that doesn’t mind building that backend piece that’s missing, but still likes making the app that people will see and use.

We most often develop new features, but we also refactor stuff, simply because we want to be faster and have fewer issues with legacy code. You will get the opportunity to build the next generation of our product by building new features as well as continually improving the look and feel of the app. You will be a part of our highly skilled front-end team and work closely with both backend and mobile developers.

About you

You wish to thrive with us as a team, as well as in your work role. We believe that you’re truly passionate about Android and backend development, IoT, and doing something for a greater cause.

You have worked for a few years with Android development and preferably you have experience with Kotlin.

We see that you are experienced in backend development, preferably in Node. We also believe that you are structured, communicative, and not afraid to speak your mind. We work in cross-functional feature teams and for you to thrive with us you enjoy this type of teamwork.
