At Utopia, Front-end Engineers make the music data come alive by building user experiences that are intuitive and solve the problems for our customers. They work closely with designers to iterate on concepts, prototypes and make data driven decisions.

WHAT UTOPIANS DO

We are building a better world for music with innovative big data technology that tracks online music sources and translates them into meaningful music consumption reports for royalty collection. The solution we’re building does not threaten to usurp the role of industry incumbents - it is about bringing transparency in the industry and supporting efficient royalty collection.

FOCUS OF THE ROLE

You will be working on Utopia products targeted for artists, copyright holders and royalty collection societies. The products are built on the top of the Utopia data platform providing insights into vast amounts of music consumption data. You’ll work with the data analysts to extract insights from the data and provide actions for customers to take based on the insights.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Collaborate with other engineers, designers, product managers and data analysts to build the right user experience for each customer category and use case.
- Develop an understanding of our customers and their “jobs to be done”.

- Craft intuitive and beautiful user experiences that are valuable for our customers.
- Make data driven decisions using instrumentation, A/B testing and other quantitative and qualitative tools.

THE IDEAL SKILLSET

- 5+ years experience building user experiences for web based products.
- 2+ years experience working with React or other Javascript based frameworks, good understanding of ES6 and TypeScript.
- 5+ years of experience with HTML/CSS, including concepts like layout, specificity, cross browser compatibility, and accessibility.
- Experience with browser APIs and optimising front-end performance is a plus.
- Track record of working with the Material UI would be a plus.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Passion for data and data visualisation.
