Database Architect - Customer Engagement

About the Role :

The role is based on you being a person who loves working with customers.It is driven by simplifying & automating installations in the customer's infrastructure and also ensuring that possible management of the customer's environment is taken care of through managed service commitments from City Network. You are driven by automation and by delivering customer solutions that are scalable and with high availability. You have a high level of competence in infrastructure as a code and above all in OpenSource. This role also requires well-developed knowledge in various database engines, primarily on OpenSource DB solutions and preferably on MS SQL.

About the team :

You will work in our Customer Implementation team where we have architects with various competencies. We are a team driven by helping our customers with designing the solutions and installation for them. We work closely with our customers to contribute as much value as possible.

Responsibilities:

- Own DBA solutions/services for City Network from design to production and then continuously improve them.
- Building database systems of high availability and quality depending on customer's requirements.
- Design, install & configure databases for our customers.
- Troubleshooting and second or third line support.

Requirement/ Must have :

- Passion to work with customers & help them develop best possible infrastructure.
- Great understanding of different Database engines.
- Scripting and automating Linux systems.
- Understanding various delivery and governance models.
- Ability to document and communicate architectural designs.
- Experience in operations/deployment within cloud environments like AWS, Azure, GCP or OpenStack.
- Ability to convert Business requirements into SLO and SLI.
- Have worked in a CI/CD environment.
- Demonstrate customer/ internal teams empathy.
- Ability to communicate in a professional, concise and clear manner in English.

Good to have:

- Understanding of platform automation with things like Heat (https://docs.openstack.org/heat/), Terraform (https://www.terraform.io/), and Ansible (https://docs.ansible.com/).
- Experience with CI/CD frameworks like Zuul (https://zuul-ci.org/), Jenkins (https://jenkins.io/) or GitLab CI (https://about.gitlab.com/features/gitlab-ci-cd/).
- Experience of engaging within the OpenSource community.
- Good knowledge in Swedish is a plus.

Educational background:

Our selection process will consider prior experience and proven skills equal to a Master's degree.

Technical Certification in Cloud technology and Agile methodologies are beneficial.

- Genuinely interested in new technologies.
- Well -organised and structured.
- Accustomed to playing on a team.

- Remote work: We are an essentially remote company. While our headquarters are in Sweden (we have offices in Karlskrona and Stockholm), we are looking for engineers from anywhere in the EU.
