The Nasdaq Pre Trade Risk (Nasdaq PTR) team is now looking for a Senior Developer Specialist to join our team. NPTR gives Exchange members the ability to define, monitor and enforce risk limits on the trading activity of their trading participants. Exchange members are able to control the trading risk exposure at the level of a single trading participant, or for a group of trading participants. PTR will enforce the risk limits, reject orders that exceed the limits, and also notify PTR users when pre-set limit thresholds are crossed.

As a Software Developer Specialist, you and the team will work with PTR focusing on programming large, distributed systems with low latency and high availability. Our mission critical software runs in customer data centers around the world. You will be part of a brand new and growing team of talented Java and React developers, and you will be involved in building up the team with the right people. You will guide them and coach them to become better developers and ensure that the team delivers great quality software.

What you will be doing?

Work with the team to build new features & functionality in an agile way.

Responsible for the architecture and code quality for the product area that the team is responsible for.

Perform code and design reviews with the team to improve the quality

Coach other developers in the team to make sure the team continuously improve

Participate in the recruitment process for new software engineers.

Work together with architects and delivery leads for other product teams to make sure all components work together in a great way.

Build automated tests to ensure great quality in the product.

Ensure the performance and reliability of the system.

Ensure service operability by implementing proper security, monitoring and alerting based on the Nasdaq Operating Environment.

We have the mentality that if you build it, you own it. This means that you will participate in problem solving if incidents occur.

Update and create necessary documentation.

Stay up to date with technology trends and decide which frameworks/technologies should be part of the technical solutions.

What you would bring to the team:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or other related field

Relevant experience within the field of expertise

Solid and extensive technical background with an emphasis on Java development

Excellent communication skills together paired with a strong client service mindset

A strong inner drive, you should thrive in supporting high demanding users in a fast paced environment

Experience using CI/CD

Experience working in agile teams either using Scrum or Kanban

It would be great if you also have:

Experience with web development and modern frontend technologies, particularly React and/or React/Typescript.

Experience in the Financial Field.

Experience in developing low latency applications.

Experience in deploying systems both in the cloud and on prem.

Experience with the Scrum Master role.
