Job Description

The Lead Game Developer is the technical lead for a NetEnt slots game project and is as such responsible for the technical aspects of the game frontend throughout the entire development process; from ideation to release and maintenance. In this position, you will be doing hands-on development work in parallel to being responsible for ensuring that the games are coded in an efficient and maintainable manner. You are expected to drive technical discussions, both within the game team and with external parties.

Besides being involved in technical work, the Lead Game Developer is expected to organize and prioritize the tasks at hand, as well as facilitate collaboration and communication within the developer team and towards other competencies, such as Art and QA. The game team usually consists of 10 people. You will collaborate closely with the Game Production Lead and Art Director during a game production, but also with other Lead Game Developers and the Game Developer Manager to align on the development process and incoming requests or requirements.

Responsibilities

• Be technically responsible for one or more games during development and in maintenance
• Be the voice of the team regarding technical feasibility of the game design
• Drive technical discussions, both internally and externally
• Facilitate collaboration and organize the work for the developers
• Be vocal about changes affecting teams or people outside of the game team
• Hands-on involvement in both game projects and on improvements
• Develop game features with focus on performance, maintainability, and quality
• Create reusable code and libraries for future use
• Support in estimation and planning of development work
• Continuously review the technical aspect of the games creation process to identify and drive areas of improvement
• Assist in recruitment of developers
• Support manager in professional development of developers in the studio

Main game skills:

• Knowledge of JavaScript or/and TypeScript
• Experience in Java or similar, such as C#
• Experience and interest in code quality practices
• Highly proficient in spoken and written English
