SB is looking for the first members of our technical team. Our product is a mobile-only, live streaming app. We have created a prototype and we need someone who can lead the project to create the first version that is ready for launch.
We are looking for a holistic-minded technical person to lead the development process. The goal is to create quality user experience, and a reliable platform to deliver to our customers.
You will need to handle mobile development on multiple platforms. You must have a strong understanding of client/server architecture and implementations, as well as low latency network transfers, and be comfortable working with multiple video CODECs.
The technical challenge is to understand and handle the implications of scaling and load balancing.The software needs to handle rapidly changing loads, and be capable of scalability while maintaining the quality on the client. The right candidate will be someone who wants to create the perfect, unbreakable combination of software, server services, libraries, etc. An even better candidate will be able to attract other developers and UX specialists to the project.
Ultimately, we need someone who is interested in leading the development process and making the big-picture technical decisions that will support the business development as we grow from small projects to global reach. We want someone who wants to be part of our project to create the tools that the media industry needs as it navigates the digital transformation.
Checklist of desired skills: // Scalability (server performance, network utilization, compilers/assembly/cache-friendly coding, load balancing, network protocols) // Extensability (modular design — layered design, single responsibility multi tiered application design — and API design) // Client performance (iOS and Android, Quality of Service, performance and memory optimization, understanding of how code and network usage affects battery life) // Video codec (VP6, VP8, MP4, h264, ogg vorbis maybe) // Network protocols and transfer technology
Compensation: We are open to discussing a compensation package that includes equity and housing (studio apartment 25 minutes from Stockholm city centre).
