We are looking for several system experts in the fields of system administration and data storage. Your final job description may fall in one of the two categories or in a combination of the two, depending on your background and preferences as well as our immediate needs. Our work environment is informal and fast-moving, creating possibilities to steer your future development according to interests.

Your future work assignments 
As system expert in Distributed Systems, you will participate in various local, national, and
international projects concerned with hardware and software solutions in a distributed Linux
environment.

Your tasks will consist of:

• Storage system operation and configuration
• Write user and system documentation
• Provide user support
• Track down and analyze bugs and errors
• Maintain a high level of system stability, security and data integrity
• Re-evaluate best practices in terms of solution robustness and performance on a
continuous basis
• Long and short term capacity planning
• Watch, evaluate and deploy new technology

Your future workplace
You will work at National Supercomputer Centre (NSC).

At NSC, you will be working on challenging issues to get modern high-performance computing to function optimally. The skilled multi-national staff together has a wide range of competences, for instance to perform leading edge, scalable storage deployments, data security and integrity, system administration, operational security, optimising code for parallel systems and much more.

Your qualifications
We are looking for someone who has experience from, or interest in, one or several of the following subject areas is beneficial:

• Distributed systems and Linux
• Distributed storage system iRODS, dCache, GPFS, Lustre
• Systems administration of large scale computing resources
• Script languages
• Computer security
• Disk and tape storage
• Software for long term storage and backup

For the positions the following general criteria apply. We seek thorough, methodical and driven people motivated by challenges and a desire to explore the forefront of technology. Much of the work is performed in international distributed teams, which means that good communication skills and self-management abilities are vital and you must be fluent in oral and written English and preferably have a working knowledge of Swedish. We want you who are good at understanding user perspectives and needs and like to offer a good service to users. You should be fluent in Linux and be in command of a selection of Python and scripting languages, as these are essential tools. A suitable educational background is a bachelor or master degree in Computational Science, or equivalent competence.

Full time, 100 %.
