Colour & Material Design at Volvo Cars is inspired by Scandinavian Design and Lifestyle, Sustainability and Innovation. Scandinavian nature, culture and values influence the way we do things. Main responsibilities 
As Specialist Designer Polymer, Grains and Pattern, you will help lead the creation and development of Polymer, Grain and Patterns for multiple programs in the in creative phase, from conceptualising and communicating design ideas to developing for production. You will work closely with other specialists in the areas of Textiles, Upholstery, Paint and Trim to help create and maintain design languages through the Specialist areas.

You are someone who is experienced and fascinated with Pattern/Graphics, how they are applied to surfaces to help create, build and maintain design languages that will be implemented across programs. You also have a strategic mindset to build a strategy for Grain, surface appearances for Plastics, Foils and Thinfoils as well as having a strong sustainability mindset. 

Your other tasks will include:
•    Collecting inspiration, materials and samples and creating tasteful mood boards
•    Conducting design trend research and benchmark
•    Communication of Colour & Material Design within Design and the Product Creation teams 
•    Creating the best-looking colour and material choices and collections for our customers
•    Preparation of tasteful presentations

To be successful in this role we believe that you have the following qualifications:
•    Bachelor or Master's degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Transportation Interior Design, Product Design or Industrial Design
•    6 -10 years of experience in colour and material design
•    Good understanding how colours and materials influence and support a specific character of a product
•    Strong technical skills in Adobe Package (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, VRED), Blender, Rhino and Power Point
•    Strong communication and presentation skills

On a personal level, we believe that you are a team player who has effective interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.  We are looking for candidates who have passion, energy and enthusiasm. You are a self-driven individual who can think strategically and has a fast understanding of complexity and ability to deal with different topics and the same time. We would also like to see that you have excellent communication skills, as well as good verbal and written skills in English.
