We at Messaging team build a best-in-class messaging experience for Truecaller users and businesses that offers both chat (IM) and SMS experience, with a focus on trust and user privacy.

As a Backend Engineer in the team, you will be working with modern technologies while building new features for the messaging platform and microservices around it. You will also be involved in design, review, and maintenance stages of development.

What do we expect from you

• Hands-on experience in the development and maintenance of high-load services
• 4+ years of Java experience
• Good understanding of key JVM concepts
• Being a team player and having a positive attitude towards collective code ownership, code reviews, retros, etc.
• Good communication skills

What will you work on

• Backend feature development with a high degree of ownership, including implementation design, corresponding unit test, and metrics coverage
• Active participation in other parts of the development lifecycle, such as feature grooming, code reviews, backend service maintenance (deployments, troubleshooting)

It would be great if you also have

• Scala or any other functional programming languages (Haskell, Erlang, Clojure, etc.)
• NoSQL databases (Cassandra, Mongo, etc)
• Event-driven systems, stream processing
• Akka
• Pure functional programming and libraries such as Cats, Scalaz
• Kubernetes, Continuous Delivery
