MACH is the real-time, high-performance control system platform we, in Technology and Solution Development at Hitachi Energy, develop in-house. The MACH platform is needed to connect offshore wind power, create synthetic inertia, connect energy systems over long distances and create a robust electricity grid prepared for the future.

The MACH hardware comprises of hundreds of circuit boards covering measurement, processing, semiconductor controls and the digital signal interface used in our power electronics solutions. For the bespoke hardware, we also develop software, system solutions, engineering tools and configuration tools. To effectively drive innovation, we develop the MACH platform in agile, cross-functional teams.

In the Embedded Systems department, we are now looking for enthusiasts who would like to strengthen our team and to grow together on our journey towards a sustainable energy future.

Your responsibilities

• As R&D Engineer you will be involved in pre-study, design and development of cutting-edge technologies that enable the current and next generation of modular advanced control for HVDC (MACH)
• In our projects, you will work closely with both external and internal contacts
• Together with your highly competent colleagues you will develop and maintain the MACH platform
• You will further develop your skills within programming, both by taking part in, and contributing to, our great talent pool

Your background

• You hold a Bachelor or Master of Science within Computer Science, Electronics, Data Communications is highly qualifying. You have a genuine interest in embedded systems, programming and new technology combined with several years’ experience from similar work
• Solid understanding of C/C++ and knowledge in C#
• Good understanding of embedded technologies- digital signal processing, real time operating systems and/or multi-core systems
• Advantageous if you also have experience in .NET and software development using Visual Studio, data communications, Linux, SQL and Azure DevOps Server
• Experience in fieldbus communication protocols such as EtherCAT, CAN, Modbus, HDLC, TDM
• Experience in debugging and root cause analysis of problems related to above technologies
• Experience in scripting languages like Python is an added advantage
• Proficiency in English is a must while Swedish is a plus
