Software Architect, Command and Control West

Your role

Command and Control West is growing and we need to strengthen our team of software architects. You will be a central and vital role in defining and designing our present and future Command and Control systems for Saabs ground based radar systems.

As a software architect you will be responsible for architectural decisions in the development of command, control and communication software in Java and your main tasks will be:

Technical leader for development teams
*

Design solutions in close cooperation with stakeholders (internal and external)
*

Support project management with planning and cost estimates

Your role

To succeed in this role, you need to be interested in the development of new solutions while being able to grasp and adhere to a large and complex framework. You are already a leader but seek to continuously improve your technical leadership with the purpose to make others grow and take responsibility for the complete system solution. You take a systematic approach to visualizing and handling architectural issues.

You are communicative and can explain complex technical concepts in dialogue with both product managers and software developers. You possess strong computer science fundamentals: network protocols, API design, programming languages and distributed systems.

Required skills:

M.Sc in Computer Engineering and/or Software Engineering or similar relevant experience
*

Extensive and documented experience from working with software development, committing code as well as and handling requirements within software projects (Java, C++, C etc)
*

Documented experience in a leading software engineering role
*

Documented experience from working with network protocols, Java and Linux
*

Agile software development
*

Fluent communication skills in Swedish and English, verbal and written

Desired skills:

Experience from working with military command, control and communication systems
*

Experience from development of safety critical systems, and working with standards such as RTCA DO-278A or IEC 61508

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.

You will be part of a department Command and Control West that consists of 60 employees, ranging from architects and project managers to developers and integration and verification staff responsible for developing our world-class Combat Systems and C4I Solutions.

We are part of Business Unit Radar Solutions which is responsible for Radar in airborne-, surface- and naval systems as well as command and control systems within Business Area Surveillance, a world-leading supplier of systems for detection of threats and self-protection.
