The Work You'll Do

The Software Architect is responsible for leading the EMEA presence of our architecture framework and tools for the next generation of global tax application products using cloud native technologies. This position will provide guidance and oversight across several functional and technical areas of Product Development, ensuring consistent patterns are implemented with similar technology stacks. This will enable Sovos to deploy modern, secure tax solutions while increasing fungibility of resources and lowering runtime costs. Partner with other architects, security, and infrastructure areas to create a compelling vision and roadmap for our cloud transformation.

More Specifically You Will

- Define and implement best practices related to continuous integration (CI) pipelines, enhanced with tools for code quality, automated testing, artifact repositories and deployments within AWS and virtual machine runtime environment

- Prepare technical blueprints for application architecture, including modular UI components for web, Restful API interfaces, microservices, and backend data processing and reporting

- Define and implement cloud native and cloud container best practices to ensure security, reliability, and scalability of solutions

- Facilitate migrating disruptive technology from the lab into the production environment with a lens on hardening, securing, and scaling to drive the expected business outcomes

- Work with stakeholders to ensure both that architectural models are complete and understood by the Technology team, and that the product produced conforms to standards

- Train, mentor, and support scrum teams in their transition to cloud native practices and decomposing monolithic .NET applications

- Define and execute improvements in legacy applications to reduce deployment times and manual effort to free up staff for higher value work

- Ensure a security-first mindset is built into all application development teams, supported by common use tools and standardized remediation approaches

What We Would Like From You

- Proven history of development and architecture experience, preferably in Technology or Software Solutions

- Embody accountability for commitments and scheduled deliverables

- Highly skilled in change management practices and driving organizational process improvements

- Contributes to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and partnership with a willingness to proactively coach, facilitate, share knowledge, and be the role model and advocate for a changing organization.

- Proven leadership ability and a track record of successfully managing a SaaS team and/or managing a data center

- Desire to drive cloud transformations and help teams evolve from traditional frameworks to cloud native patterns

- Demonstrated proficiency at developing and running large volume systems at scale within both traditional datacenter and cloud native/cloud container runtime environments, specifically Amazon Web Services

- Technology background including JavaScript and appropriate UI frameworks with background in both Java and .NET service-oriented systems

- Ability to effectively manage multiple work assignments and projects and motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
