WHAT UTOPIANS DO

The open secret is that the music industry is struggling with the very basics of music accounting: What was played, when and where? Who should get paid and how much?

Utopia Music is bridging the data gap by connecting global consumption, accurate metadata, and fast payments to an industry-wide trust platform. Our goal is to unlock creative value and enable Fair Pay For Every Play to make a better world for Music. The solutions we offer do not threaten to usurp the role of industry incumbents - it is about bringing transparency in the industry and supporting efficient royalty collection for all.

THE ROLE

We are looking for data analysts who would like to join our team to deliver insights, recommendations and even new data products for the entire music industry. On our journey to deliver best-in-class services on a global scale, we want to leverage advanced analytics and a pure data-driven approach in all aspects of our business to go beyond solutions that are available today, and would love it if you’d like to join us on fulfilling that mission!

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct full lifecycle analysis to include requirements, activities and design by developing analysis and reporting capabilities and monitoring performance and quality control plans to identify improvements

- Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports, insights, and recommendations

- Help develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality across Utopia

- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in large, complex datasets

- Work with product managers and business unit leads to prioritize business and information needs continuously

- Develop and maintain business processes that allow Utopia to maximize the value of the analytics features

- Locate and define new process improvement opportunities

- Identify new opportunities for improvement and collaboration across the company

- Potentially creating new products from our current and future data resources

- Working actively with improving the data insights capabilities and advocate a data driven approach within all areas of Utopia

- Contribute to becoming more agile and outperforming the competition

- Contribute to modernizing the music Industry

REQUIREMENTS

- 3 years of experience as Data- or Business Analyst according to the seniority of the role

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data science, Computer science, Engineering, statistics, or related discipline

- Fluency in English

- Proficiency with SQL and python

- Proficiency with BI tools such as Tableau

- Technical expertise in data models, database designs, data mining, data visualization and segmentation techniques

- Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets

- Operationally proficient with the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver with clear results.

- Excellent written and verbal communication

- A team player with good interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across organisational boundaries, embrace change, work in matrix management arrangements and be deployed to different teams and projects to proactively make improvements to working practices

- Good stakeholder management skills, able to build rapport and credible, trusted and strong working relationship

BONUS SKILLS

- industry experience within music or fintech

- experience with big data environments & technologies

- experience with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud platform)

- We are supporting work permits for employees that have already moved to Europe from countries outside the EU. However, we do not support relocation at the moment.
