Role description

You will be part of a brand new team that will be responsible for setting up and managing our Big Data platform. We work in an Agile way with open communication always striving to improve ourselves, to learn from other members of the team and to share knowledge.

Key accountabilities of this role are

- Setting up and managing our new Hadoop based Big Data platform
- Set up integration with new data sources and implement them according to best practises
- Continuously improve the performance of the platform as well as the data structures
- Set up processes to automatically guarantee data quality
- Integrating the Big Data platform with our existing Data Warehouse
- Work closely with development teams, Data Warehouse teams and business stakeholders

We´re looking for someone with the following skills, knowledge and experience

- Extensive knowledge about setting up, managing and monitoring a Hadoop platform
- Extensive experience with Java programming using products/frameworks like Spark, Storm, Hive, Pig, Kafka, HBase, Cassandra etc.
- Knowledge about best practises for development in a Hadoop based platforms
- Experience with handling large amounts of data
- Analytical mind and problem solving attitude
- Good nature and good communication skills

It is also nice, but not a must, if you have experience with:

- Traditional data warehouses and relational databases
- Web/online businesses
- Reporting tools (e.g. Qlikview)
