Senior Interaction Design Lead

The new multi brand studio, Geely Design Center Gothenburg, is a part of the multi-cultural global network of Geely Design studios dedicated to supporting the efforts of Geely Auto Group sub brands. Our Design Center in Gothenburg is the global headquarters for Geely Design and focuses on delivering great design for the two brands: Zeekr and Lynk & Co.

We are a fast-growing team of both creative and management professionals with the task of delivering exciting global products suitable for volume production and innovative concepts. In an inspiring studio environment, we build and maintain a top-class design team of multiple nationalities. With best in class processes and tools we challenge preconceptions and deliver premium car design.

Do you enjoy doing great things? We do, and we are looking for Senior UX designer to expand our team and focus on HMI involving lights.

As a Senior Interaction Design Lead you will work within the HMI Design department, a cross-functional team where inter-disciplinary focus, curiosity and drive are highly valued. We work in close collaboration with all other design departments shaping the mobility experience of the future. Each individual in our team has a high level of responsibility and mandate and is expected to be able to work autonomously.

The studio is highly international, with 20+ countries represented, so an interest in and respect for cultural differences is required. Working language is English and you will be based at Lindholmen, Gothenburg.

This is what you will do most of the time:

Collaborate on designing, running, and testing new solutions through experiments and prototypes at varying levels of fidelity.

Systematically ensure that concepts are coherent, satisfy user needs and expectations, understand user pain points as well as meeting safety and regulatory requirements, and minimize driver distraction.

You and your skills:

At least 5 years of experience designing across multiple platforms

Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of designers, researchers, engineers, strategists, and product managers throughout the design process

Diverse portfolio highlighting projects that demonstrate experience in crafting digital and physical user interfaces

Prior experience in developing interfaces using light

Good understanding of technical requirements conceSning light design

Familiar with creating specifications for system integration

Ability to drive developments together with our engineering teams in Europe and China. Travels to China may be needed (approx. 1-2 trips per year)

Fluent in English, spoken and written

Driver’s license

Nice-to-haves

Previous experience developing interfaces/interactions for high-workload dynamic environments (e.g. vehicles, aircraft)

Understanding of web development languages

Understanding of prototyping HW such as Arduino & Raspberry Pi

Motion (After Effects and Premiere) and 3D software (Blender, 3D Max, VRED)

Automotive experience is an advantage but not a requirement

You need to be independent and confident as well as a good team player. Your communication and presentation skills are vast and you have the ability to inspire others. To be successful in the role you need to be structured, methodical and have an analytical mind with good planning skills that will help you to manage competing project priorities. Cultural awareness, specifically between Europe and Asia is also an important factor for the role.
