Solution Architects - Polestar Digital

We’re expanding, and we need people who share our vision and want to be part of something different. Now we are looking for 10 to 20 new Solution Architects to join our team in 2022.

Polestar’s Digital department is a key enabler of the entire business, leveraging best-of-breed technology to create critical digital products across several domains. Two of the most customer-facing domains are called Digital Commerce Solutions and Customer Acquisition & Services (CAS) and both have ambitious growth plans in 2022.

CAS delivers digital solutions that enable the acquisition of new customers and provides services to existing customers. The primary goal is to provide a world-class experience in both physical and digital touchpoints. The domain is a key enabler of Polestar's overall strategy as a D2C brand and the increasingly important aftermarket business. Product areas within the area include the polestar.com website, Sales & CRM tools, Customer Interactions (test drive, Spaces), In-car and Mobile apps and Ownership Experience (charging, service booking).

Digital Commerce Solutions is responsible for the delivery of D2C and B2B digital solutions to be consumed by the different customer journeys for both Retail and Fleet customers. Product areas found within Commerce include Polestar’s Car Configurator tool, Digital Storefront (pre-owned, extras webshop), Checkout, Order & Delivery, as well as Financial Services Partner integrations and the Fleet business.

What you will do

As the Solution Architect, you will own the technical and architectural decisions for your product team, valuing simplicity and being willing to challenge technical constraints and procedures to achieve robust and scalable solutions. You will be the visionary force behind the technical solutions and are responsible for planning and developing the architectural runway in collaboration with the Domain Architect. You will also ensure that solutions meet business needs and are compatible with existing architectures.

Our technical landscape consists of .NET Core, Node.js, Typescript, React.js, GraphQL.

Our applications run in AWS on a serverless architecture using lambda functions and services such as DynamoDB.

Further on, you will:

- Design the overall technological architecture of the Digital products with the help of the teams and Domain Architect, steered by the strategy and vision of the digital product manager.
- Ensure solutions align to the enterprise policies as defined by the Architecture & Standards team
- Guide teams on technology strategy related to DevOps practices
- Ensuring solutions development are scalable and global by design
- Identify and remove technical impediments, in collaboration with the Domain Architect
- Work with Digital and Technical Leads to align the roadmap with strengths and opportunities within the technical stack
- Work closely with the product area Service Designer to bring concepts into a realistic technical context.
- Constantly work with improving the Digital product/service/platform, not afraid to challenge the status quo
- You will own the list of identified technical debt for a digital product, service or platform, prioritize it together with the Domain Architect, and work with the team to gradually reduce technical debt as well as cross-cutting domain issues in the sprints
- Provide the teams with policies and guidelines regarding software engineering practices to ensure stability, scalability and performance
- Be part and/or lead pre-studies on connectivity features for future car models to determine and shape integrations that will be used in the years to come

To be a great fit for this position we believe you have:

- A seasoned technical leadership skills with a deep insight into the newest technology trends
- Significant experience with a modern enterprise setup using event-driven microservices
- Experience with cloud technologies and services, preferably serverless
- An ability to make architecture decisions at both teams and Digital product level
- Experience working on projects that span multiple organizations and business units
- Keen sense of design thinking
- Experience managing technical priorities within the backlog
- Strong communication skills with the ability to align the organization on complex technical decisions
- Experience with modern development practices including DevOps, agile methodologies, microservice development, serverless, and cloud infrastructure
