ARE YOU READY?

Are you passionate about imagining and influencing the future through design? Do you want to be in the forefront of the transportation industry – creating new products, services and digital solutions for our customers? Are you intrigued by the possibilities of automation and electromobility? And do you thrive in an environment where you are surrounded by designers from all corners of the world? If so, Volvo Group Design is the place to be.

We are now eager to welcome new Front End Developers to join our team located in Lundby and Lindholmen, Gothenburg, Sweden.

This is us, your new colleagues!

Volvo Group Design is the design function for the Group’s brands and business areas. The team provides design to products, digital solutions and services from the three studios located in Gothenburg, Sweden, Lyon, France and Greensboro NC, US.

We offer you opportunities to work with all business areas under the Volvo brand: Volvo Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Penta, Volvo Buses, Volvo Autonomous Solutions, Volvo Energy and Volvo Financial Services.

The User Experience team within Volvo Group Design is growing. We are more than 50 skilled UX, UI, Service Designers and Front End Developers today, but need more colleagues to join us to deliver on the Volvo Group vision: to be the most desired and successful transport and infrastructure solution provider in the world!

This is how you will make an impact.

In this role, you will collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams to innovate, design, prototype and build solutions. At Volvo Group Design you will work with skilled and passionate colleagues in all areas of design to bring premium products and services to the market.

As a Front End Developer in our team, you will work in a variety of frameworks, including in-vehicle Android Automotive OS and QT for our embedded systems, as well as web and app based environments depending on your skillset. You will get to seek and discover user needs, prototyping, implementing, and testing new solutions, products and services. In addition, you will deliver value as a “creative bridge” - supporting our team with fast and agile prototypes, and the technical team with optimized, clean and concise code that can easily be integrated in robust end-user systems.

Who we believe you are.

We see that you are proficient in object-oriented programming with experience from development towards embedded solutions running, Android Automotive OS (Kotlin/Java) and QT/QML. We also believe you have experience from mobile applications (Android & iOS) and/or game development, and proficient understanding of code versioning (Git).

When it comes to your personal and social competencies, we believe you have an explorative mindset and a strong customer focus. You are result driven with high professional standards, love being creative when solving problems, and you enjoy experimenting and employing ingenious methods to push state-of-the art design concepts.

As you will be working in close collaboration with our designers, technical colleagues and stakeholders from across the organization, we hope that you are good at working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.

You consider yourself a team player who enjoys motivating and supporting others, but can also work independently. At Volvo Group we really believe in both professional and personal growth, so we hope you share our curious mindset and have a willingness to pursue a deep understanding and continuous learning.

As you will be working in an international setting, it is important that you are fluent in English, both spoken and written.

Other important competencies for the position:

  • Degree within IT, Computer Science or similar, and between 4-10+ years of industry experience.

We also value if you have some experience from integration of 3D engine capabilities, such as Unity or Unreal, using C++ and Python and have worked with common vehicle protocols such as CAN/LIN. In addition, having a good understanding of UI principles, patterns, and best practices when it comes to design system application is also a merit. Finally, it would be great if you have worked in an agile/SAFe setup, as well as having experience of scrum tools for tickets and collaboration (Jira/Confluence etc.).

Further information:

In this position you will report to one of our Group Managers within Volvo Group Design User Experience and be placed in Gothenburg.

If you have the required background, drive and inclusive mindset that we are looking for you might be our next colleague.

You are encouraged to apply early as applications will be assessed continuously until the positions are filled. We look forward to receiving your application!
