IT Support Officer, A2 (Ref. SWE524)

The British Embassy in Stockholm is part of the world-wide Foreign and Commonwealth Office network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. The Embassy is now looking to recruit an IT Support Officer. Based in Stockholm this is a fixed term contract to cover a parental leave, with an estimated start in February 2016 for a period of 12 months.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running of office IT system and first point of contact for around 50 IT users. He/She will also be responsible for IT budget planning and play an important role in implementing Crisis and Business Continuity Plans. We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible and customer-oriented individual.

Main Duties
Maintain and support the Embassy network desktop, laptop and IT infrastructure;
-First Embassy point of contact for users IT queries;
-Provide IT support for Embassy events;
- Maintain an accurate IT inventory and record of service desk work;
-Manage user accounts using Microsoft Management Console / Active Directory;
-Ensure IT system security including, investigation of breaches and compliance with IT Security Procedures;
- Review, procure, build, install and manage hardware;
- Administer and maintain LAN's including Residence network;
- Administer Embassy fixed line and mobile telephones;

Ensure maximum availability of the IT system by closely monitoring performance and liaising with other IT Support Officers, Regional Support Centre and London Helpdesk.

Manage and monitor the budget of officially supplied devices.

Identify and manage local IT contractors;

Ensure IT aspects of Business Continuity Plan are kept up to date and tested;

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent command (both oral and written) of English and good Level of Swedish is desirable.
- Broad knowledge of IT Systems Administration and experience of work in a similar environment. Windows Operating systems, MS Office, Sharepoint and hands on Networking and troubleshooting experience essential. Linux is considered an advantage;
- Customer oriented individual who is structured, organised and specialist/technical by nature.
- Approachable, thorough, methodical and self-disciplined with the ability to concentrate on things within area of expertise.
- Moderation, consistency and the ability to tie up all the loose ends and finish a job will be of importance.
- Maintaining quality and standards will be priority.
- Proactive, using own initiative to reach innovative solutions and respond to changing priorities.
- A formal IT qualification is desirable.
- The following FCO Competencies will be evaluated during the interview process: Managing a Quality Service, Delivering at Pace, Delivering Value for Money, Changing and Improving.

Terms and conditions
This is a temporary contract for a parental leave cover.

The appointment is subject to security clearance. Normal working hours are 09:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday, with one hour for lunch.

The terms of your employment are based upon and should be governed by the Swedish Employment Act and Swedish Employment practice.
