Senior Full Stack Developer - Growth Web

Storytel is now redefining the whole public-facing web and we are looking for a Full Stack Engineer with a front-end focus to accompany us on this exciting journey.

About the Role and Team

As a developer at Storytel, you will work with experienced colleagues across a wide field of technologies. You will have a lot of creative freedom and the opportunity to influence the product. We work in small, cross-functional teams that deliver the most intuitive and engaging web experiences to millions of users. Developers collaborate closely with other developers, designers, researchers, product managers, and engineering managers to build end-to-end solutions. Teams take responsibility for the whole cycle of development, from ideation to implementation, testing, and shipping. We are as passionate about the user experience as we are about the technologies that drive our product.

As a full-stack developer emphasizing the front-end part of the Growth Web tech team, you will take an active role in making architectural decisions, planning, and building new features on our web. An ideal candidate should know how to create high-quality front-end code, understand the whole system, connect the different services, and maintain/create relevant tooling for operation.

About You

- You are an experienced full-stack developer with a front-end focus, motivated by solving problems in complex systems with full-stack teams and getting involved in all stages of the development process.
- You care about delivering high-quality products and supporting others to maintain a high standard.
- You understand agile principles and apply them to deliver a project in incremental phases.
- You have ambitions in technical leadership, ready to mentor more junior developers and be a role model.

You are well versed with

- Semantic HTML with WCAG best-practices
- Modern CSS (CSS Grid, responsive, mobile-first)
- Experience working with design systems
- Profiling and optimizing for the best user experience, Web Vitals
- General understanding of how the web works (dns, cdn, servers

In addition, you also:

- Write readable, maintainable, and performant code.
- Are fluent in modern web development.
- Are comfortable with NextJS, Design System,, and monorepo.
- Have an eye for design and can work with any website’s layout
- Need to be able to work in cross-functional groups, as you will often interact with the design team, marketing team, etc.
- Are open to being on call to take responsibility. You build it; you run it.
- Have a passion for writing testable code and ensuring critical logic has test coverage.
- Keep up with the latest best practices, common frameworks, and tools.
- Enjoy learning as well as teaching others. See best practices applied by educating, workshopping, pair programming, and other similar activities involving your co-workers.
- Are used to the code reviewing process and understand that reviewing is as important as writing code.
- Have a methodical approach to debugging and fixing problems in distributed systems.
- Are comfortable with experimenting and exploring new domains in business and technology.
- Have an interest in our product and in helping our customers enjoy audio stories anytime, anywhere.
