Simula Research Laboratory AS is a publicly owned research institute located outside Oslo, Norway. It is a multi-cultural organization, employing about 150 individuals from 30 countries. Simula is conducting ICT research in the fields of communication technology, scientific computing and software engineering. Project Description
The Biomedical Computing department (BioComp) is driven by medical challenges in researching new simulation technology. Our research is strongly multi-disciplinary, with teams of experts in physical modelling, mathematics, numerical methods, scientific software development, bioengineering, medical research, and clinical treatment. The department is a driving force behind the development of The FEniCS Project, a collaborative project for the development of innovative concepts and tools for automated scientific computing, with a particular focus on automated solution of differential equations by finite element methods.

OpenDreamKit is a Horizon 2020 European Research Infrastructure project (#676541) that will run for four years, starting from September 2015. It will provide substantial funding to the open source computational mathematics ecosystem, and in particular popular tools such as LinBox, MPIR, SageMath,GAP, Pari/GP, LMFDB, Singular, MathHub, and the IPython/Jupyter interactive computing environment. Responsibilities
We are seeking a 2 year full time postdoctoral fellow at Simula Research Laboratory to work on developing software for the Jupyter parts of the OpenDreamKit project (Work Package 4). The candidate is expected to design and develop extensions to IPython/Jupyter notebooks in collaboration with the OpenDreamKit partners and Jupyter team. Topics include improved collaboration support, reproducible notebooks, test automation, and 3D visualization. Work will be done in both Python and JavaScript.

. Have solid programming skills and experience writing non-trivial programs in Python and/or JavaScript.

. Be passionate about open science and open source.
