Star Stable Entertainment was founded in 2011, sparked by a desire for a game that could make a difference. Although half of gamers are girls and women, they were under-represented in the gaming industry, both as characters and creators. We dreamed of an epic online world where tween and teen girls could share an amazing experience. And we wanted to challenge how things were done in a male-dominated industry.

The result was Star Stable Online, which has gone on to become the world’s number one horse game with over 21 million registered users across 180 countries. We’re thrilled to welcome fun-loving players to the island of Jorvik, with its breathtaking scenery, beautiful horses, and magical quests. And we’re proud to see each player's special bond with their four-legged friends and the passionate community of Star Stable players.

As of 2022, our company has 200+ employees with a female to male ratio of 54/46, unheard of in the gaming industry. Our world has expanded into the Star Stable Universe and includes books, music, animated series, and mobile apps. And we continue to champion diverse characters and narratives, encouraging our audience to be their true selves. Join us as an iOS/Android Developer

We want to support today's gaming landscape and our horse adventure is step-by-step being released for players to explore Jorvik on a small screen. We want to continue to improve the experience and deliver a product on mobile that is fun and qualitative to play, connecting existing and new players through mobile devices. As an iOS/Android developer, you will drive the Development for Star Stable Online on different iOS /Android platforms.

We believe that the person we are looking for someone that has;

Android experience

- A solid understanding of Object Oriented Programming along with the SOLID programming principles;

- Understanding of architecture in a mobile environment, promoting modularity and scalability (we are using MVVM as a pattern);

- Experience in Kotlin and knowledge of the Android SDK;

- Experience in developing Android applications that are up to date with market standards, usage of modern libraries such as the Jetpack library package(Livedata, ViewModel etc.), Moshi, Retrofit, OkHttp;

- Understandment on how to perform API calls;

- Experience creating reusable components in a multi-modular environment

- Technical ownership to promote code quality and how to increase our code design efficiently;

- Interest in process optimization and improvement of team efficiency;

- A willingness to promote testing initiatives with unit and functional testing;

- Experience collaborating with UI/UX departments to create user-friendly experiences;

- Knowledge of deploying applications to Google Play.

iOS experience

- Have experience with Swift and working with mobile commercial products. You understand in-app purchases and are used to work with larger mobile app products and teams.

- Have experience working with SwiftUI

- Can write well-written code and have a deep understanding of iOS development and the workflow.

- Are outgoing and can handle multiple collaborations with teams and stakeholders.

- Engage with the iOS community and stay up to date with the latest trends.

- Have a willingness to mentor and onboard more junior developers.

- Drive the android & iOS development for Star Stable Online on mobile using Swift.

- Monitor and stay up to date on the Apple ecosystem and the Apple development community.

- Collaborate with cross-functional development teams, UI, UX and QA in order to improve the product.

- Together with QA, monitor and create an understanding of crash data.

What we believe that you have

- Experience working with mobile commercial applications.

- A willingness to work closely with others to achieve goals.

- An ability to share knowledge and learnings with other teams.

- Mentoring skills, you want to help guide other team members.

- Experience with the Firebase SDK

- Some degree of knowledge on CI/CD best practices (versioning control with Perforce, deployment utilising Jenkins)

- Knowledge and experience with A/B testing experimentation

- Self leadership - Should actively seek collaborations with other teams.

- Will have many stakeholders/points of contact.

- Someone who can take own initiative and self going

- Self-driven- Should engage in the iOS community, will need someone external to bounce ideas with since it doesn’t exist internally.
