This will be us - your new colleagues within Material Planning


Material Planning is part of Technology, a function within Volvo Group Digital & IT with a big stake in the Group’s digital transformation. Technology will modernize Volvo’s core digital backbone making it a platform for digital products.


Material Planning are responsible for the supply of material for the manufacturing of the Trucks. Purpose of "Plan Material" process and GILM system is planning material volumes with suppliers and securing the material availability at point of use towards produce products. Plan Material aim is to create a robust and harmonized processes to ensure material availability at point of consumption in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

We collaborate with other parts of the organization, both in Group Digital & IT and the rest of the Volvo Group. We support manufacturing at all Volvo Trucks locations and all over the world. The Material Planning team is now looking for a .Net developer


In this role you will be part of a team with an end-to-end focus on the Manufacturing Target Map – both from a production as well as a project perspective. Your main tasks as a software developer will be to support key users, work with maintenance as well as taking part of development projects.

We are using Microsoft tools, code is in .net both C# and core, databases are MSSQL. We are working a lot with automation and have a high coverage in automated testing. DevOps is a focus area and we have come a bit on that journey. The coming years will call for a lot of changes, new technology, new way of hosting applications, new way of distributing and using data. We will need to widen the scope of distributing data, today we use MQ export/import, API’s, and replicas off databases.

The group comprises strong competences around planning, system map architecture, test management, release and configuration management, quality management. The group has personnel both in Sweden and in India

You will be part of a global distributed team in a prioritized and challenging delivery and report to the Line Manager of Supply & Distribute Material Planning


Your background


You might be a senior .Net developer with many years in your field – or you could be fresh out of university looking to start you career. We will consider both, but the important thing is the right core skills with an ambition to learn and develop your skills.


If you have/are:

  • Familiarity with C#, .Net Framework & Visual Studio
  • Knowledge with MSSQL
  • Good knowledge of all aspects of the software engineering process will be needed
  • The below skills are considered a great merit:
  • Experience from Azure Cloud environment

Who are you?


We are looking for you who has a great passion for development. You are curious and are willing to learn the business processes our applications are supporting. You are flexibility to work with Development, Test, Support and Maintenance. Focus areas today are modernization, including improving the user experience (UX), but the applications are generally backend heavy.

Complete proficiency in English and Swedish is a requirement and good presentation and communication skills are needed.

Location for the position is Gothenburg, Sweden. The position is semi-remote and requires you to be at least 50% on-site with the team. We do not provide re-location packages for the position.
