Get to know us!
The department Battery & Charging Controls is responsible for the development of major parts of hybrid and electric vehicle systems at Volvo Cars. The group Charging Software is responsible for delivering software functionality, in regards of actual software deliveries, but also diagnostics functionality, for the on-board charger (OBC) and the DCDCs in our electrified vehicles.
The on-board charger is essential for electrified vehicles, it holds the functionality to charge the traction battery from the grid, and it is for sure of highest importance in a pure electric vehicle. The DCDCs converts energy from the traction battery to the low voltage system.
The biggest challenge with the DC-charging functionality of electrified vehicle is that half of the system is outside of the vehicle. The success of the charging-sequence is highly dependent on the implementation in the charging station done by other companies and that they interpret the standard in the same way as we do. We therefore need to do the uttermost we can in our SW/HW to make charging of the vehicle successful.
Our vision is to deliver the best in the market of Charging Software functionality and continuously evolve our way of working. We strive for a more modular software platform to cope with different configurations of the worldwide charging standards that are continuously updated.
What will you do?
As Function Developer you will be part of an agile team that delivers Application Software for the on-board charger. You will utilize a model-based development (MBD) process with Matlab/Simulink and AUTOSAR framework/toolchain to realize functionality for different charging standards and logics in the vehicle.
You need to take an active role in review/understanding of the software requirements, implement the logics within the boundary of the requirement, perform unit tests to ensure functionality and that no errors were introduced. To perform peer review is needed to increase the quality but also the awareness of what is happening in other parts of the SW, parts that you personally are not working with right now. Other activities that we do is calibration in vehicle, testing in HIL (Hardware-In-the-Loop), analyze, fault trace and correct software bugs, and lastly interact with Volvo internal support teams and suppliers about software design solutions.
As a part of the agile team, together with other Software Developers and Software Testers you are a part of the process with daily meetings, sprint planning, time estimation and retrospective, all for the purpose to improve ourselves and the way of working.
Do you fit the profile?
We believe that you have at least a B. Sc. degree within engineering, preferably electronics, software engineering or equivalent competence. On top on this, you have some years’ experience with model-based development for embedded systems. We are a global company so a must for us is that you are fluent in English. Also, you should have a driving license (B), preferably you love cars as much as we do!
This is what you need to have. But we also have a few things that is nice to have! If you also have any of the following skills, we consider it to be meritorious:
* Experience of working as software/function developer
* Experience of embedded system development
* Experience of product development within the automotive industry
* Knowledge of power electronics, especially on-board charger functionality
* Knowledge of AUTOSAR architecture and development of Software components and data ports
* Knowledge of charging standards like CCS and CHAdeMO
