Technical lead

Your role within the kingdom

As a tools technical lead in Candy Crush Soda Saga you will be responsible for enabling the successful delivery of short and long term goals, by providing the technical direction, continuously developing and improving processes in the tools team, a group dedicated to supporting other production teams in the game, acting as the interface with other Soda and King units.

As a technical lead you will:

• Gather information and needs from other crafts (art, level design, operations etc.) that need support and create concrete technical specifications from them
• Inform and guide production plans from a technical perspective within the tools team
• Mentor and guide more junior members of the team
• Guide architecture in tools team initiatives and facilitate technical collaborations
• Understand the game’s architecture and technical stack for supported teams
• Understand the day to day workflow and pain points of supported teams
• Assume accountability for team feature planning, task breakdown and estimations
• Support the technical director in creating the team roadmap and backlog refinement
• Lead by example in the production of high quality, scalable and maintainable software
• Keep up to date with and promote development industry best practices
• Still be expected to be an individual contributor to the code base

Other skills include:

• Strong leadership, organizational and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to adjust your message based on the audience
• Ability to convert business goals into technical solutions
• Broad technical knowledge that includes modern C++ (at least C++ 11 standard) and Web frameworks (HTML,​ ​CSS​ ​and​ ​JavaScript, ReactJS, node, webpack)
• Understanding of scale and maintainability on a long living code base
• Experience with CI/CD and software engineering testing best practices
• Proficient in English, both written and spoken

Tasty Bonus skills:

• Experience in the gaming industry, especially cross platform mobile gaming
• Experience with working with cross functional teams
• Knowledge of backend development in Java
