Helicon Technologies were founded in 2015 and more specifically helps companies in the energy sector to build platforms and software that leverages data and advanced analytics for data visualization, optimization and customer-facing products. Through collaborating closely with customers, the goal is to make data enlightening and software useful.

Among the clients are energy companies or startups with energy-related products such as ABB, Polarium and Stockholm Exergi.

While they're growing fast, they maintain a casual, small business work environment that allows everyone to reach their potential, work sustainably, and have the autonomy to deliver results. The experienced software engineers and data scientists at Helicon specialize in product development, data engineering, and cloud infrastructure. In this project, you will be part of a team of 15 developers and sysadmins that are working on a project with Stockholm Exergi and report to Jonas Rogert (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonasrogert/?originalSubdomain=se).

Now let's get down to the nitty-gritty, i.e. what you will spend your days doing. Don't worry, we'll give the rest to you in bullet points. For example, a typical project includes:
- Some kind of data infrastructure using tools like: Kubernetes, Airflow, PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, InfluxDB, Kafka
- A machine learning component typically built around Spark and Tensorflow
- APIs and software to facilitate communication between services e.g. Python, FastAPI, Django, Kafka, RabbitMQ
- UIs where end-users can operate the system and visualize data and analyses e.g. React, ThreeJS, WebGL

What you will actually be doing:

- Manage GNU/Linux-based cloud systems and networks
- Design scalable containerized application infrastructures
- Continuously improve deployment, integration, and maintenance processes
- Automate management and monitoring
- Investigate and resolve service and infrastructural problems
- Support and coordinate work with external security auditors and the developers in the team
- Examples of tools used in this particular project: Deploy pipelines, Ansible, Docker/Nomad, Prometheus, ELK Stack Terraform and other Hashicorp tools

- Around 3 years' experience working as a Sysadmin in Linux, Cloud Engineer or Sysops
- Fundamental understanding of Linux and networking
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and running deployments AWS or other cloud
- EU work permit, residing in Sweden, preferably Stockholm
- Professional English language skills

Personality-wise, we're looking for someone who:

- Enjoys solving problems as well as discovering and defining them
- Makes pragmatic scoping decisions and can communicate the reason behind different ways of working
- Collaborates with the team to tackle technical challenges and to level up in the process
- Can theorize but equally enjoys getting things done efficiently through creating scalable and maintainable solutions

- Start date: upon agreement, preferably as soon as possible.
