Software Engineer

Here at Klarna we?re simplifying buying - We do this by letting the consumer buy online without signing up for anything, they pay after receiving the goods; we assume the credit and fraud risks for the merchants. We have more than 1200 employees and we?re active across 18 markets. We serve 35 million consumers and work with over 50,000 merchants. Our goal is to become the world?s favorite way to buy. As a Software Engineer at Klarna, you?ll be responsible for optimizing our systems for speed, scale, and reliability.

What you'll do;

Build new Java, Erlang, JavaScript or Ruby based microservices to handle hundreds of thousands of transactions every day.
Improve the scalability and reliability of our payment processing systems.
Take end to end responsibility for systems; load testing, code profiling, finding critical bottlenecks, as well designing, coding and deploying solutions.
Build deployment pipelines using Chef, Jenkins and Ansible.

Some of the technologies we use;

Java, Erlang, JavaScript, Ruby, AWS, Riak, LevelDB, DynamoDB, Chef, Jenkins, Splunk, Hadoop, Docker and Kafka.

Our ideal new colleague:

Is comfortable writing code in either Java, Erlang, Javascript or Ruby on Rails.
Preferably has experience with a microservices based architecture and AWS.
Has worked in an Agile environment and knows the pros and cons of different methodologies.
Is familiar with NoSQL databases and distributed systems.
Used to work in an Continuous Delivery environment.
Experience with DDD and TDD would be a plus.
Love tight collaboration with team members and across teams.
Has excellent English communication skills ? we have a very international working environment with over 36 different nationalities in the Stockholm office.
