Senior Developer

What we want you to do
As a Senior Developer with TV3 Play, you will be part of a team focusing on developing the best advertising funded video on demand services in northern Europe. The team is responsible for the development and maintenance of the platform powering TV3.se, TV3play.se, TV6play.se, TV3play.no and similar destinations across eight markets. You will be a part of the Viaplay Technology Team and work closely with the teams building similar services such as Viaplay and Viasat Sport. We are truly at the forefront of video on demand development and streaming experiences and we are now looking for a new team member to help us grow the different platforms, enhance our user experience and support our constant growth.

TV3 Play & Viaplay Technologies are part of the Modern Times Group, an international media company with brands such as Viasat, Viaplay, TV3, TV6 and RIX FM. We offer a challenging environment, with very skilled high performing individuals, located at Södermalm in Stockholm. As part of a strong technology team you will be working with the latest technologies in streaming video and building full stack software platforms in a micro-service architecture. We build software in short delivery cycles for enabling you to quickly see the result of your work. Product iterations are data driven, based on consumer feedback and behavior. Our users are expecting great viewing experiences, and as part of the team you will learn about video player development and HTML5 frameworks. Our business is driven by advertising, and we are constantly developing innovative and seamless solutions for creating value, while optimizing user experience.

What we ask of you
You are an experienced back-end developer with 4-5 years of experience. You will be focusing on building strong and high performing back-end components in Node.js. We expect you to have a good understanding of frontend frameworks as you will work closely with these teams. Everyday work will include running development activities, including design, complexity assessment, development, test and deployment. We expect you to take ownership of the design, development and ongoing quality of our platforms as a key part of the team. You will develop engineering solutions aligned with technical- and product long-term visions. This means working closely with our product department.

• Degree in computer science, computer engineering or an equivalent level of work experience (4-5 years).
• Solid experience in developing services using Node.js+express, another dynamic language or Java.
• Solid experience of HTTP/REST services and web development patterns.
• Experience with metadata providing systems and Amazon services.
• Dedication to CI, automation and other efficient workflow-oriented practices.
• Dedication to unit testing, code review and other quality-oriented practices.
• Experience of, and enthusiasm for working in an agile environment and with agile development methodologies.

You’re a passionate developer with an interest in video streaming and software development. We work in an agile environment and use Jira, Confluence and Stash (with Git) to support our needs.
