Data Engineer

MTGIQ is the central initiative supporting our commercial departments with data and solutions for business intelligence and analytics. We are running several projects in parallel, aiming at accelerating data driven decision making across all our business areas, and support the changes this means to the business on all levels.

What we want you to do here
As a Data Engineer for MTGIQ you will be a key resource in our mission to continue building a group wide data warehouse and analytics solution for the purpose of increasing customer and content insights, supporting data driven business decisions throughout all MTG?s business areas.
We want you to develop multiple integrations between our plethora of source systems, build solid solutions and structures for fetching both batch and real-time data, as well as transform said data to feed into our Business Intelligence applications. As part of the job, you will support the continuous data and information modeling activities in order to secure a reliable data structure as well as efficient development and maintenance over time. Your experience and knowledge will also be critical in our work to improve the engineering process, including code principles, architecture, documentation, testing etc.

What we can do for you
We offer you the opportunity to work with really large amounts of data, transforming it to understandable information that helps our business areas improve their understanding of product usage, customer behaviour and more. You will develop on the Hadoop stack, preferable using Python and Java in connection with Spark. Our work pace is high and we believe that you will be challenged by all the different projects inside the team. In addition you will be part of a team responsible for accelerating data driven decision-making in the entire group. Everything we do, and how we do it is not yet carved in stone, meaning that you will have the opportunity to influence in many aspects.

What we ask of you
We?re looking for someone with strong background in data, data warehousing and data architecture, interested in fetching everything from traditional, relational data to semi- or unstructured data in large amounts. You have probably had several roles in traditional data warehouse development projects but realised that the future lies within the possibility to handle massive amounts of data with new technology stacks like Hadoop. You have probably worked a few years developing on Hadoop and Spark, preferably with Python and Java. Since we run our solutions in the cloud, experience in Amazon AWS, especially EC2, S3 and EMR are also desired but not mandatory.
