Introduction
System and Web Service Engineer in the The Information Technology (IT) Department, Database Services Group (DB).

Functions
As a key member of an international small team, you will take responsibility for the full life-cycle of physical and virtual servers, all Linux based, as well as web components which, all together, provide a reliable computing infrastructure for the deployment of business-critical web-based applications, batch processing services and the related databases.

This includes the installation, configuration, tuning of platforms used for developing, integrating, and deploying enterprise web-based applications and databases. It also includes the monitoring and the management of the performance and availability of the provided services and components. You will work on a daily basis with Java developers and database specialists, all experts in their field.

You will:
.Provide support for the user community (providing third level / expert service support).
.Manage services on a day to day basis assuring highest possible reliability, security and confidentiality. This includes deployment of system components, system development (in the context of automation and systems services integration), monitoring performance and availability whilst ensuring computing security.
.Coordinate major deployments such as new releases of Java application servers and operating systems.
.Drive/maximise automation using Agile/DevOps tools such as Puppet to support running services at scale (over 500 servers). Currently, the main used technologies are Java web technologies (WebLogic, Tomcat), OpenStack, Puppet, and Python.
.Define, document and implement procedures following the ITIL recommendations.
.Perform continuous technological developments monitoring, share it with your peers and use it to identify services enhancement possibilities, and to ensure services continuity in the long-term.
.Take part of the group communication efforts via internal and/or external events.

Qualification required
Master's degree in the field of computing or equivalent.

Experience and competencies
The experience required for this post is:
.You must have experience in management of Linux systems, Java web deployment and development using scripting languages.

The technical competencies required for this post are:
.IT Operations: operation of the linux infrastructure : preparation for new or changed services and the monitoring of performance of systems and services.
.Change management: coordination of changes according to itil standards.
.Systems installation/decommissioning: integration of software products into existing environments to produce new platform-specific versions. tools include openstack and puppet.
.Programming/Software development: design, creation, testing, documenting of new and amended programs using java, perl, python, shell, jee, tomcat, weblogic, agile methodology.
.Application support: application maintenance and support services: investigating and resolving issues and providing information about the systems.

Note on Employment Conditions
We offer a limited-duration contract for a period of 5 years. Limited-duration contracts shall terminate by default on their date of expiry. Subject to certain conditions, holders of limited-duration contracts may apply for an indefinite position.
