Consumers can visit our websites, currently in 18 countries and languages, to decide what products are the best for them. alaTest’s award winning review analysis technology aggregates, structures and analyses every day millions of product reviews from more than 3,000 international websites and magazines.

About the team and position

alaTest tech team works with various state-of-the-art technologies to provide unique global review solutions. We collect review data from thousands of international review websites and magazines, develop and maintain data-flow and ETL processes to load and structure data, use machine learning and natural language processing to analyze the millions of reviews and deliver the content to our clients via REST APIs and feeds. We have a heterogeneous platform developed in Python and Java using open source software and a combination of battle-hardened solutions like MySQL and Solr as well as asynchronous web technologies like Tornado/Cyclone.

You should be comfortable with and interested in shared ownership of code, agile development, and open source technologies. You have interest in both development of data delivery solutions and database development and administration. As a person, you are motivated by developing creative solutions with innovative technology, you like to take responsibility and show initiative, and are comfortable in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment. You take a pragmatic approach to problem solving, but always maintain a strong focus on quality.

Requirements
- A solid understanding of Python or Java
- Strong experience with SQL, database design and performance optimization
- A BSc degree in Computer Science or mathematics. MSc or PhD is a plus
- 3+ years professional experience
- Proficient in data structures and algorithms
- Comfortable working in UNIX/Linux environment
- Experience of some of the following techniques is a plus: ETL, Data Warehousing, Solr/ElasticSearch, Data Mining, Natural Language Processing, Statistics, Correlation Methods, REST APIs
- A genuine passion for the web, new technologies, and open source software
- Must be authorized to work in Sweden

Responsibilities
- Develop robust software and designs
- Maintain and further refine our database and technical platform
- Problem solving and performance tuning in SQL and Pythonx
- Stay abreast of the latest technologies with a view to introducing new development techniques and tools that improve alaTest practices
- Proactively solve client issues
