The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB) is among the largest departments of epidemiology in Europe with special focus on increasing our knowledge of the aetiology of different diseases. Our department consists of researchers, doctoral students, biostatisticians, data collectors and database administrators as well as administrative personnel, in total some 250 staff. Division

The KI Biobank is a core facility hosted by MEB and its purpose is to provide professional sample and data services for world-class medical research that improves healthcare and public health.

The facility typically serves defined research studies that collect and use samples or manage sample-related data. After eleven years of steady growth the biobank now holds samples and related data from half a million Swedish residents. It is vital that our work is done to high ethical standards and an important duty is maintaining full compliance with relevant laws. To manage this operation effectively we are updating our IT systems to a very advanced level. We now need to ensure that it is sustainable, highly effective and can be further developed to meet evolving needs and opportunities.

Position 1 (contact James Thompson). Junior system developer internal IT

Description of the duties and tasks the position entails

The purpose of this role is to support the maintenance and development of the IT systems that support the internal laboratory operations of the KI biobank. This includes the databases, laboratory information management system (LIMS), enterprise service bus (ESB), and equipment control systems.

The role-holder will:

- gain a thorough understanding of the laboratory systems, processes and automation;
- ensure good maintenance and support of the laboratory IT systems;
- together with biobank leadership, develop an IT strategy that serves the longer term needs of the biobank business units and its external clients;
- programme and trouble-shoot laboratory automation.

Educational background that is required

A minimum of a BSc degree in computer science or similar

Experience and knowledge that is required

- Must be adept in Java and Joda
- XML scripting languages; Maven experience; SOAP UI Tool; Intellij Idea or Eclipse; XSLT; and XSD
- Web service implementation (eg SOAP, JBoss, XML scripting)
- Implement testing frameworks in JUnit and TDD
- Agile system development (for example SCRUM)
- Good language skills in Swedish and English, spoken and written

Position 2 (Contact Annie Agrell). Junior system developer for IT-services

Description of the duties and tasks the position entails

The purpose of this role includes developing, documenting, supporting and maintaining our IT-infrastructure that supports external research groups and biobanks.

The role-holder will:

- Work in a high paced agile environment with customer driven focus and priorities;
- liaise regularly with our customers;
- be a pragmatic problem solver, flexible and service minded;
- contribute with new ideas to expanding our infrastructure with new services.

Educational background that is required

A minimum of a BSc degree in computer science or similar.

Experience and knowledge that is required

You are adept in C#, Python and JavaScript. We believe that you feel at home in a Microsoft environment and that you have one year or more experience working with:

- MS SQL Server
- Active Directory
- Dynamics CRM
- SSIS
- IIS
- SQL

- .NET
- Good language skills in Swedish and English, spoken and written

Beneficial but not required experience:
