In brief
The Market Data team needs a highly qualified Senior Java Backend Developer. The team’s responsibilities include delivering high quality market data to both our customer and internal trading systems.

Nordnet IT is divided into Development and Operations. Development consists of several teams and they are independent, product oriented, agile, full stack teams including product owners, Engineering Managers, developers, QA and application support. The teams’ task is to take ideas to launch.

Our development environment is Windows or Mac and Linux. Our test and production environments are Red Hat Linux.

Background                                                       
You are a senior developer with several years of experience in implementing high-performing, low-latency software using TCP and multicast UDP. Software optimizations is a natural part of your daily work and you enjoy analysing performance using tools like Censum and YourKit.

Experience from the financial market is beneficial as well as experience of Scrum.

Techniques

• Expert level Java and the NIO APIs
• Experience of TCP and UDP multicast programming and protocol encoding and decoding
• Buffers and low level byte manipulation
• Performance and GC tuning

We work with the market data from different stock exchanges and information vendors. The information needs to be normalized and translated to internal services.

New market connections need to be implemented and the current ones need regular updates.

Continuous Delivery makes it possible to deploy at any time in to production so your work will take effect immediately.

Tools
We use Git and Jira for our daily work. You choose if want to use Mac or Windows and what IDE you prefer.

This is part of the role
The “what & when” is handled by each team’s product owner, and the “how” is taken care of by the team.

All members of the team collaborate closely regardless of role in bringing value to our customers. You will participate in development, from idea to production launch. This includes refinement of requirements, design, development, highly automated test and deployment. Also, you and your team mates are working with operation and maintenance of the components within the product area of the team.
