Senior Backend Developer

Hive Streaming provides a distributed software platform for live video streaming which is used by several fortune 500 companies. We are currently looking for a software engineer to join our backend team to help us tackle challenges related to

• Scaling and improving the performance of our infrastructure
• Monitoring, benchmarking and testing our service
• Develop and integrate customer specific solutions
• Processing of large amount of data in real time

As a member of our team you will join a group of passionate and highly motivated individuals with strong academic background. In addition to an analytical and structured approach to solving problems, we expect that you have a strong interest and drive to learn new things and apply them in practice. You may work on side projects and showcase code that you are especially proud of as open source.

Requirements

• Bachelor or master in computer science/engineering or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience with backend development
• Proven fluency in Java, Scala or another object-oriented language
• Understanding of Python, Ruby or another dynamic language
• Basic unix knowledge
• Practical and theoretical background in distributed systems

Knowledge of the following tools is a plus

• Redis, HBase or Kafka
• Spark/Storm/Hadoop or other processing frameworks
• Maven/SBT
• Jenkins/Travis and other build tools
• Chef/puppet
• HTML/CSS/Javascript
