Scania seeks a High Performance Computing (HPC) system administrator to join a team supporting the HPC high-end computing environment, 1000+ nodes with Infiniband and petabyte class data. The application domains are traditional HPC, BigData and Machine Learning.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Day-to-day system administration of several Linux based HPC systems
Develop system tools for automation and monitoring
Proactively monitor, analyze and correct system issues
Architect and design HPC systems to meet requirements
Diagnosis and troubleshoot complex large scale system issues
Mentoring junior staff and cross training peers

General
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems.

Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.

Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Basic Qualifications

BS or equivalent + 9 years related experience, or MS + 7 years related experience
A minimum of 5 years of HPC system administration experience
In-depth knowledge of the Linux operating system
Scripting proficiency in at least the following languages: Bash, Perl, or Python
Experience with revision control software (e.g. Git)
Experience with InfiniBand
Strong experience with Ethernet/IP networking
Ability to work well on a team and independently
Strong problem solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with MAAS, juju and openStack
Experience with configuration management tools (juju and ansible)
Linux kernel development experience
Software development experience is a plus
Familiarity with GPU-computing
Familiarity with SPARK/Hadoop
Experience with SLURM
