Kalkulo is owned by, and co-located with, Simula Research Laboratory AS, a publicly owned research institute located outside Oslo, Norway. Simula is conducting ICT research in the fields of communication technology, scientific computing and software engineering. Simula's main objective is to generate new understanding and create vital knowledge about fundamental scientific challenges that are of genuine value for society.
Responsibilities
Kalkulo runs large and long-term software development projects together with visionary customers within our focus areas. We are now seeking applications for a (Senior) Scientific Programmer to strengthen our software development team.
The candidate will fill two roles:
1.Work as a (senior) scientific programmer associated with specific projects. Depending on interests and qualifications, typical tasks will be related to data-visualization and -analysis, numerical algorithms, parallelization, application- and front-end development, system design.
2.Contribute to build up Kalkulo's expertise and offerings in the areas of Digitalization and Machine Learning towards the energy sector:
. Seek to enhance current offerings by seeing the potential for making use of new methods and technologies.
. Look for opportunities to acquire new projects. Work with other senior personnel to understand the challenges of the market and to create proposals for projects that address these challenges.
Your profile
Kalkulo is looking for talented and highly motivated people with a strong interest in developing software solutions for scientific applications. We expect that you are self driven and cooperative and enjoy working in an agile and creative environment.
The typical qualification is a Master or PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or Physics. We would consider both relatively recent graduates as well as experienced candidates.
We expect that you have experience in, and is passionate about, one or more of the following topics:
?Machine learning and data driven methods
?Visualization of large data sets
?Big data analytics
?Predictive maintenance
?NoSQL databases
Significant experience in C++ is an advantage, as this is the programming language we use most frequently. Moreover, you are also familiar with relevant languages/tools, of which examples are: Kubernetes, Docker/rkt, Spark, TensorFlow, Cassandra, Python, Java, Matlab.
