About the position

The Division is an online open-world RPG on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, where you are fighting a desperate struggle to save New York City. Bringing the city and the game to life is a huge challenge with interesting problems to solve and an opportunity for innovative solutions.

We are working in our own engine, Snowdrop, which has our game and tools unified in one process, written in C++. The engine is backed up by a solid online backend based on our years of online experience as well as by our mobile gaming solution that amazed people at E3. Having our own engine allows us to shape how we work, set up flexible workflows, and forge the tools we need to create The Division.

Responsibilities

• You will be a part of team of programmers, often working in a cross-discipline team, to accomplish features and systems for the game, the engine and our tools.
• You will work with designers, artists and other teams to realize all of New York.
• You will create features in order to provide players and engine users with the best experience possible.
• You will be responsible for creating good architecture and maintainable code that is easy to work with.
• You will be expected to be proactive and care about code quality as well as the quality of the game.
• You will design systems, communicate the intended purpose of the system, identify the needs to realize it and be responsible for implementing the system from conception all the way to delivering a finished product.

We are looking for programmers with all kinds of experience because we believe that having different perspectives is an important part of creative work. • Gameplay Programmer with animation and/or locomotion focus
• Engine Generalist Programmer
• Tools Programmer
• Audio Programmer

Required skills and experience

• Strong knowledge of C++
• Experience of writing and working with heavily multi-threaded systems a plus
• Previous work experience as a programmer, experience in the games industry a big plus
• Passionate and creative
• Able to work both independently and as a part of a bigger team
• Depending on what your focus is within programming we are looking for different qualities, but some are universal
