Senior Software Developer - Risk Analytics

Nasdaq Position Overview:
The Risk Management department of Nasdaq Clearing is responsible for managing the risk assumed by Nasdaq Clearing in its role as a Clearinghouse. The team consists of 20 professionals and is now looking to expand with a Senior Software Developer responsible for risk analytics.

The Clearing Risk Management domain is constantly being challenged by market developments such as new derivatives products, increased competition and new regulation. To stay at the forefront of the clearing and risk industry continued investments in IT and more specifically risk analytics is required. A Senior Software Developer will be responsible for the design, implementation and support of best-in-class risk analytics for use by the Risk Management department.

Education, Professional accomplishments, and Certifications:

•An engineering academic degree, e.g. in Data Science
•1 to 3 years of relevant working experience
•Strong programming and database skills
•Experience from working with decision support or with business intelligence tools
•Experience of handling large quantities of data in R, Qlik or Business Objects is meriting
•Background working in the financial industry and specially with derivatives is meriting

Skills, Requirements and Competencies:

The foremost responsibility for this role will be to develop and maintain one or more QlikView applications and related databases. These applications are used for analyzing, visualizing and reporting of various clearing related risks. The work responsibilities include business requirement analysis, data flow and database design, sql script programming and QlikView application programming including GUI objects design. Other responsibilities may also come in scope, depending on the skills and interests of the applicant and the future needs of the Risk Management department.

Strong programming skills within sql and also other languages such as C# is required. Experience from working with, and ideally designing, data bases is very important. An interest in designing effective and visually tempting GUI’s is also highly valued. Experience in fields such as data mining or machine learning is further considered meriting.

The successful applicant should have strong analytical skills, be attentive to details and be service minded. A willingness to take own initiatives is highly valued. This position requires close collaboration with the rest of the Risk Management team as well as with other teams within Nasdaq why interpersonal skills will be an important factor in the selection process.

Nasdaq Clearing is a multi-asset Clearinghouse covering Equity, Fixed Income and Commodity derivatives. The major risks involved in the clearing business are counterparty risk, market risk, liquidity risk and operational risk.
